About the ESCAPE R DISC frame performance

The 2025 GIANT ESCAPE R DISC, which represents the GIANT brand, underwent a full model change in 2024 and is now in its second year of its fifth generation.

The significantly renewed frame has a much simpler construction to keep the manufacturer's price down due to rising costs.

Compared to the previous model, the pipe shape is much more rounded. However, thanks to GIANT's excellent frame manufacturing technology, the frame is easy for beginners to handle while also considering vibration absorption and lightness, despite its low price.

The design, which used to have a strong "the cross bike" impression, now feels more refined or casual.

The frame geometry also features a well-balanced design that considers the golden ratio of cross bikes, characteristic of GIANT, for a comfortable ride and stability.

The chainstay length is slightly shorter, and the BB DROP is slightly higher, making the frame stable for stop-and-go city riding and cornering.

With a longer head tube length and an upright stem angle, it's easier to steer from an upright position.

The ESCAPE R DISC is a cross bike designed for everyday use in the city. For daily use, it has plenty of bolt mounts for accessories such as mudguards, carriers, baskets, and kickstands.

With the disc brake type, there's no issue of "V-brake calipers getting in the way of attaching a carrier," so the range of customization is slightly wider!

About the ESCAPE R DISC parts configuration

The ESCAPE R DISC uses TEKTRO hydraulic disc brakes.

Hydraulic disc brakes have stronger stopping power than traditional V-brakes and are excellent at braking firmly even with a light grip.

They maintain braking performance even on wet roads in the rain and allow for speed control with little effort even in the coldest winter!

The shifting uses popular Shimano 3x8 speed.

The gear ratio is also a very simple configuration, with 28-38-48T at the front and 11-32T at the rear.

Although the crank is not made by Shimano, it features a bash guard, demonstrating consideration for daily use.

The tires are 700x32C. *The side brown color tires are only available for Matte Silver.

Four to five years ago, cross bike tires were commonly 28C, but now 32C has become the standard.

This makes them less prone to slipping and provides better cushioning, making them suitable for city use.
