Introduction to the BuddyRider Bicycle Pet Seat
Designed to not obstruct the front basket

The BuddyRider is not a typical "pet basket," but rather a pet seat similar to a popular front child seat. It doesn't obstruct the front basket, so there's no need to worry about storage space.
Increased riding stability with seatpost mounting
Furthermore, it's a bit different from a front child seat in that it's designed to attach to the seatpost rather than the handlebars.
This offers the advantages of being "installable on a wide range of bicycles" and "less likely to compromise riding stability."
Close proximity between owner and pet for peace of mind

Another key point is that the close proximity to your pet allows you to monitor them, giving both owner and pet peace of mind during cycling.
The distance can also be adjusted in 5 stages if the distance from the handlepost (stem) to the seatpost is 48.5cm or more.

The pet itself is securely fastened with a seat belt (harness).
Easy to attach and detach, suitable for commuting too◎

・Close proximity to the owner allows monitoring while riding
・High riding stability, less prone to wobbling
・Securely fastened with a harness, minimizing concerns about jumping off
・Not a basket type, so no worries about luggage space
・BuddyRider is easy to remove, making it suitable for daily use (commuting/school) bicycles
This pet seat improves upon the negative aspects of conventional pet baskets!
About BuddyRider Specifications
Compatible pet size and weight

First, the pet's weight must be up to 11.5kg. Also, it may not be suitable depending on the pet's body shape.
The body dimensions are a length of "16 inches (approx. 40.64cm)" and a width of "6.5 inches (approx. 16.51cm)" when the pet is seated.

By the way, there is a dedicated cushion for small pets weighing 5.5kg or less available separately, although we don't handle it yet.
Therefore, it's suitable for pets weighing 5.5kg to 11.5kg, and if your pet is under 5.5kg, we recommend considering the dedicated cushion as well.
Bicycle compatibility requirements for installation

Next, regarding compatible bicycles
・The distance from the seatpost to the handlepost (stem) must be 48.5cm or more.
・The seatpost diameter must be 2.54cm to 3.18cm (carbon seatposts or dropper seatposts are not compatible).

・Handlebar width must be 42cm or more (when BuddyRider is installed, the distance between the handlebar end and BuddyRider must be 10.16cm or more on each side).
・It is recommended that the handlebar height is higher than the saddle height (upright position) (drop handlebars, etc., are dangerous).

It seems that most light bicycles (so-called "mamachari") and commuter bikes customized for an upright position can be installed without issue.
Road bikes with a forward-leaning posture and highly specialized MTBs require caution during installation. However, I don't think anyone would install it on such a bicycle to carry their precious pet.💦
Impressions from a test ride with the BuddyRider installed

This time, I was specially lent the BuddyRider by the manufacturer!
The bicycle it was installed on is a prototype of our original bicycle, which is currently in a new planning phase! Details of the original bicycle will be introduced later!
Amazed by the high stability!

Our staff's beloved dog was also on it for the first time, and seemed quite calm.◎

During the ride, there was naturally a feeling of pressure from the installed item, but I could really feel how stable it was.◎
Those who have experience installing a front child seat for children will understand easily, but the stability is higher than that of a front child seat.
Ease of attachment and detachment is also a key point.

The BuddyRider's mounting method is also very simple. It's simply about securing it firmly.
Also, it's great that the seat and arm parts can be easily detached while leaving the mounting hardware in place. This makes it suitable for everyday use (commuting/school) bicycles.

With this, even if "pet-friendly cafes" or "parks with dog runs" are far from your home, you can now get there!

A few disappointing points... lack of wind protection & variations
If I had to point out any downsides...
① I wish it had wind protection!
Since bicycles pick up speed, I'm concerned about my pet getting dry eyes.
② I wish there were more variations, including accessories!
After all, commitment and individuality are important, aren't they?
BuddyRider Summary
- Can be attached to many bicycles
- Stable design for peace of mind while riding, for both owner and pet
- Highly practical for carrying luggage too
- Expands the world you can explore with your pet!

Up until now, many bicycle pet seats required a dedicated bicycle, meaning you couldn't use your favorite bike in that category.
With this BuddyRider, although you do need to consider the bicycle category a little, it's compatible with most bicycles.
Also, it's great that despite being an aftermarket type, it offers high riding stability!
I think expanding the places you can go with your pet is a wonderful thing for them!
Please consider it!
