BROTHER CYCLES Mr.Wooden (FRAME SET) | A modern rim brake dirt tourer that "dares" to be enjoyed
Lightness, simplicity, and freedom of assembly. There's a joy that only rim brakes can create.
In this age dominated by disc brakes, the combination of "rim brakes x 650B" feels surprisingly fresh. BROTHER CYCLES' "Mr.Wooden" is a dirt tourer frame that's not just nostalgic, but re-imagined with a modern sensibility.
With wide clearance for up to 650x50B tires and an abundance of braze-ons, it's suitable for a wide range of uses, from touring to gravel riding. At first glance, many might wonder, "Rim brakes in this day and age?" But once you actually ride a bike like this, you'll find its simplicity incredibly comfortable.
Rim brakes are simple in structure, lightweight, and easy to maintain. When combined with mini V-brakes, the braking power is sufficient, and they feel quite manageable for daily use and touring.
And most importantly, the appeal of this frame is its ability to accommodate fatter tires. While possessing a Randonneur-like atmosphere, it can confidently tackle gravel and dirt, naturally expanding the possibilities for "play that doesn't end on paved roads."
Some ingenuity is required in choosing wheels and parts, but for those who enjoy that process, this frame is a definite hit. It's a frame that makes you want to carefully build your own unique bike, perhaps combining it with parts from VELO ORANGE or VELOCITY.
💬 STAFF REVIEW
While it looks like a randonneur, the tire clearance is on a different level. Officially it's 650x50B, but 55mm seems like it could just barely fit. There are plenty of braze-ons, making it suitable for gravel use, and it has a stable feel that doesn't falter even with a front load.
Another attractive point is that it's simpler and lighter than disc brakes. Choosing wheels might be a bit of a challenge, but there are options, and the hubs are compatible with both 130mm and 135mm, so there are no issues there.
