About the Mistral Disc Frame Performance

![]() |
![]() |
The Mistral Disc cross bike uses an aluminum frame. Its design is a popular one, suitable for everyday urban riding.
It's a versatile and easy-to-handle model, without being overly specialized!

The head tube and steerer tube have considerable length, allowing for an upright riding position. This "easy" position makes for easy steering and puts less strain on your back and neck.

The frame tubes are "double-butted"...

However, the complete bike weighs 12.33kg (actual measurement for 480 size), which is a bit heavy, even for a disc brake model.
Nevertheless, given the solid welds, it can be said that this cross bike focuses on "durability."

The front fork is made of chromoly, also prioritizing durability over lightness.
Chromoly front forks offer excellent durability as well as vibration absorption, which is a definite advantage.
Additionally, to account for weight, straight fork blades are used. This improves the ability to convert pedaling power into propulsion.
Overall, it maintains solid rigidity while not compromising on riding performance!
About the Mistral Disc's Component Configuration
I believe the biggest selling point of GIOS's Mistral series lies in its component configuration!

The basic specifications adopt SHIMANO (3x8 speed).

However, models that consistently use SHIMANO for both front and rear gears are quite rare.

And the brakes also adopt SHIMANO hydraulic disc brakes.

While the wheel rims are from ALEXRIMS, the hubs are made by SHIMANO.
When considering a cross bike, "price" and "bike weight" tend to attract the most attention. However, when considering its heavy use as a daily commuter, "durability after purchase" is an important point not to be overlooked.
For example, wouldn't it be a shame if after replacing worn-out tires, the ride quality wasn't as impressive as when it was new?
Having sold cross bikes for many years, we believe that SHIMANO components are exceptionally durable.
SHIMANO, one of Japan's proud parts brands, ensures that even after long-term use and replacement of consumables, riding performance is not easily diminished.
You often see cross bikes advertised online with phrases like "SHIMANO-equipped model!", but it's rare to find a model that incorporates so many SHIMANO parts! (Even mamacharis [utility bikes] use one or two SHIMANO parts).

By the way, the headset is made by FSA but uses sealed bearings. The bottom bracket is made by SHIMANO, and even with parts that receive less attention (which even bike shop staff sometimes overlook), durability (longevity) is a conscious consideration.
Instead of catchy phrases like "price" and "bike weight,"
It's a user-first design, built for "long-term daily use" and to "minimize maintenance risks."
In terms of hidden performance, it can be said to be top-class among cross bikes in the same price range!
