Since its introduction in 1979, the MKS "SYLVAN" series has been a classic, supported by many cyclists. The "SYLVAN ROAD NEXT" by MKS / MIKASHIMA Manufacturing Co., Ltd. inherits its classical design and feel while evolving into a modern pedal with enhanced rotational performance.
Its greatest feature is the "triple sealed bearings" adopted in place of the conventional cup & cone structure. The smooth feel, which minimizes rotational resistance, greatly contributes to reducing fatigue during long rides and improving pedaling efficiency.
The mirror-finished aluminum body pairs well with beautiful chromoly road bikes and classic touring bikes. While retaining the traditional quill pedal aesthetic, it also achieves a modern riding feel through weight reduction and a slimmer profile.
Like the conventional SYLVAN series, it is designed for use with toe clips and straps. It is easy to use even with wide shoes and supports comfortable rides from city commuting to serious touring.
Furthermore, since it uses screw-fastened side plates, replacement is possible in case of damage. It is a representative model of the MKS high-end series, achieving a high level of balance between a classical appearance and modern performance.
Even those familiar with the conventional SYLVAN will be surprised by the lightness of rotation of this NEXT series.
The sensation of spinning effortlessly makes a difference in how tired you feel on long rides, and the initial push is very smooth. The classical appearance remains, but the riding feel has been updated to be modern.
