NITTO B861 SLAT BAR|A Refined Flat Bar for City Riding and Touring
A ready-to-use 685mm width with no trimming required. A classic NITTO flat bar that balances a natural riding position with light, responsive handling.
Choosing the right handlebar can significantly change the way a bike feels. The NITTO B861 SLAT BAR offers a finely balanced design suited to everything from everyday city riding and touring to custom gravel bike builds.
Its defining feature is the deliberately selected 685mm width. Neither excessively wide nor too narrow, it provides a manageable size for a wide range of riders and can be installed without the need for trimming.
The zero-rise flat profile and subtle 8° backsweep create a natural riding position while helping reduce strain on the wrists and shoulders. Its clean, understated design pairs beautifully with a wide range of bikes, from classic chromoly frames to commuters and modern gravel bikes.
Made in Japan, it combines the precision finish and everyday practicality expected from NITTO.

Personally, I think the greatest appeal of this handlebar is its perfectly judged width straight out of the box.
These days, many wide handlebars are designed to be trimmed to size, but the B861’s carefully chosen 685mm width feels natural as soon as it is installed. It remains easy to maneuver through city streets while also creating a comfortable long-distance position without spreading the shoulders too far apart.
It is an excellent choice not only for classic chromoly bikes, but also for gravel and commuter builds. Paired with the NITTO V-4 Stem, it looks especially well balanced—a simple, dependable handlebar you will want to keep using for years.
💬 STAFF REVIEW
Many modern bikes come with relatively high handlebar positions, so when your cockpit starts to feel a little too tall, swapping to the SLAT BAR is a great way to bring it back down.
