With its clean, solid design reminiscent of an orbiting satellite, the Orbiter is a next-generation flat pedal from MKS. Its name reflects the combination of the crank revolving around the bottom bracket and the pedal rotating on its own axis.
Its standout feature is its remarkably low weight of just 344g, making it the lightest MKS pedal in its size class. A newly developed lightweight spindle and a sealed bearing and bushing system reduce weight without compromising rigidity.
The medium-sized platform is designed to comfortably fit a wide range of riders. Eleven precisely positioned traction pins and a gently concave profile securely hold the sole of your shoe, creating a highly grippy feel that almost feels as though your shoes are locked to the pedals.
Its ultra-thin profile, measuring just 5.6mm at its thinnest point and 11.8mm at its thickest, delivers a direct pedaling feel while maintaining excellent ground clearance. The pedal rotation is also intentionally tuned not to spin too freely. By reducing unexpected movement, this setup makes it easier to quickly find and catch the pedal when riding off-road.
A simple body design that resists mud and dirt buildup, combined with a fully serviceable construction, gives the Orbiter the practical usability expected from MKS.
The Orbiter feels like a distinctly modern take on an MKS pedal. The first thing you notice is how light it is, and its slim profile creates an impressive sense of connection between your feet and the bike. Power feels as though it is transferred directly into the pedals.
Grip is also excellent, providing plenty of confidence on gravel roads and trails. The traction pins are positioned especially well, holding your shoes securely while still making it easy to adjust your foot position. It is also reassuring to see that, true to MKS tradition, the pedals are designed to be serviced and repaired rather than replaced.
This is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-end flat pedal that can be used and maintained for years.
