Made for hiking, running and sandals. A versatile pair that expands the way you move.

HIKER TRASH ZEN SOCKS “HIKE & RUN” were developed from experience gained on long-distance trails. Their split-toe, tabi-style construction allows the toes to move more naturally, creating lightweight socks suited to hiking, trail running and sandal use.

Hiker-Ready Socks You Can Hang to Dry

  • The loop at the cuff is designed for attaching the socks to a backpack or tent with a carabiner. It is a detail inspired by the everyday reality of long-distance hikers, who hang wet socks in the breeze to dry while on the trail. Few things make someone who keeps walking happier than a dry pair of socks. *Carabiner is not included.

Washable, Odor-Resistant and Warm - Dependable Merino Wool

  • Made with washable merino wool, a remarkable material that helps retain warmth even when damp and reduces the chill caused by perspiration. Its natural antibacterial properties help control unpleasant odors, and the socks can be washed in a washing machine. For socks designed to endure demanding days on the trail, this easy-care material helps keep a hiker’s feet clean and comfortable.

Exceptional Toughness Beyond Ordinary Socks

Step after step, day after day. For long-distance hikers who continue walking for hours, sock durability is an essential part of their equipment. ZEN SOCKS “HIKE & RUN” achieve remarkable toughness by blending nylon and polyester with merino wool. In abrasion testing, the toe, heel and sole each recorded approximately 5,500 cycles. This far exceeds the typical benchmark for casual socks, at around 500-1,000 cycles, and sports socks, at approximately 2,500-3,000 cycles.

Real Durability Developed on Demanding Trails

  • In 2017, long-distance hiker SKETCH, also known as Ryosuke Kawato, took on the approximately 5,000km Continental Divide Trail in the United States. A prototype pair of HIKER TRASH socks was used throughout the journey. Whenever damage occurred during the hike, the details were immediately reported to the team in Japan, who made improvements and sent an updated version back to the trail. By repeating this process, the team gradually created a pair of socks shaped by genuine experience and the real needs of hikers. The HIKER TRASH series embodies a level of authentic toughness that cannot be achieved through desk-based design alone.

HIKER TRASH (About the Brand)

  • Ryosuke Kawato, known on the trail as “SKETCH,” works as an illustrator and writer while also pursuing long-distance hiking. After completing America’s three major long trails, he earned the Triple Crown of Hiking.
HIKER TRASH is a serious sock collection created for hikers by combining his extensive trail experience with the technical expertise of ROTOTO.
