CARABINER LOOP

  • HIKER TRASH socks feature a loop at the cuff for attaching a carabiner. The idea was inspired by long-distance hikers who cut holes in wet socks with a knife so they could hang them from a tent or backpack to dry. Dry socks always make hikers happier!
    *Carabiner is not included.

WASHABLE MERINO WOOL

  • Made with machine-washable merino wool. Merino wool offers excellent warmth and moisture management, helping reduce perspiration-related chills while protecting the feet from changing outdoor temperatures. Its natural antibacterial properties also help suppress the growth of odor-causing bacteria, keeping the socks comfortable and fresh for longer.

EXTREMELY TOUGH

Long-distance hiking involves walking all day, making sock durability essential.
By knitting nylon and polyester together with a merino wool base, the durability of the socks has been significantly improved.
In abrasion testing, the HT30001 HIKER TRASH “HIKE & RUN” recorded approximately 6,500 cycles at the toe and heel and approximately 6,000 cycles at the sole.
*As a general benchmark, casual socks are typically expected to withstand approximately 500-1,000 abrasion cycles, while sports socks are expected to withstand around 2,500-3,000 cycles.

FIELD TEST

  • In 2017, SKETCH, also known as Ryosuke Kawato, field-tested a HIKER TRASH prototype while hiking approximately 5,000km along the Continental Divide Trail, considered the most demanding of America’s three major long trails. Whenever damage occurred, he sent feedback to the development team in Japan, who made improvements and shipped revised versions back to the United States. Repeating this process resulted in the HIKER TRASH series and the genuine toughness required by long-distance hikers.

HIKER TRASH (About the Brand)

  • Ryosuke Kawato, known on the trail as “SKETCH,” works as an illustrator and writer while also pursuing long-distance hiking. After completing America’s three major long trails, he earned the Triple Crown of Hiking.
HIKER TRASH is a serious sock collection created for hikers by combining his extensive trail experience with the technical expertise of ROTOTO.
