Personally, I find this item extremely useful for long rides and gravel rides in cold weather.
When it's not cold enough to start with tights, but you want to be prepared for the cold, the portability of being able to quickly pull them out of your pocket and put them on is a huge appeal. Despite being lightweight, they provide ample warmth and are invaluable for long descents and protection against morning and evening chills.
